VISION
STATEMENT
To ensure the success
of each individual student.
STATEMENT
Silver Lake
Middle School is a community built on respect, responsibility, and academic
excellence. Our mission, in collaboration with students’ families and the
larger communities, is to foster social, emotional, and academic growth in
our middle level learners. In a healthy, safe environment, students
are challenged by rigorous academics and encouraged by dedicated staff to
discover and embrace their own unique abilities and talents. We seek
to promote a pattern of lifelong learning that will best enable our students
to be contributing members of society and meet with success in a rapidly
changing world.

Welcome to the
Guidance Office
The vision of the Guidance
Department is for all students who graduate from Silver Lake to have the
ability and personal resources to: understand themselves and others,
understand career pathways, resolve personal problems, make informed
decisions, manage conflict, recognize and change inappropriate behavior,
make a successful transition from school-to-college or school-to-career, and
be life-long learners.
Guidance counselors are available for individual counseling, career
exploration, course selection, test interpretation and any other school
relate issue. In addition to the above, counselors are also available to do
group counseling and to work with students and their families concerning
social, behavioral or school adjustment problems. Students can make
appointments with the counselors by filling out an appointment slip and
leaving it with the guidance secretary. When possible, guidance appointments
should be during lunch, before or after school.
