Ancient Egypt Project As we learn about Ancient Egypt each of you will be required to prepare, present and submit a project on one aspect of Ancient Egypt. A sample of general topics on Egypt includes;
The above topics are just a sample. There are many more topics you may choose. Once you determine the general topic you want to learn about, you will need to narrow down the topic to a specific focus that you will research and present.
For example, if you want to do your project on pyramids, you may narrow your topic down to how a specific pyramid (such as the Great Pyramid) was constructed. You will need to prepare at least three questions that you will answer. Questions on the construction of the Great Pyramid may be as follows;
Much more information will be needed on the topic of construction of the Great Pyramid but these questions will help you get started with your research.
If you choose the general topic of Egyptian mummification, you may want to narrow your project down to the process of how the organs of pharaohs were removed by priests and placed in canoptic jars after they died. Again, this is just an idea but it shows how the topic can be narrowed down and provides you with direction for your project.
The goal for this project is for you to learn something about Ancient Egypt. It should be interesting to you and you should have fun. I am giving you plenty of time to complete your project so make sure the effort is there. Project Requirements 1. Research paper (3-5 page typed report in 12 point Times New Roman font) The research paper will be based on your chosen topic. The paper is to have a bibliography with at least five different sources used in the research process. At least two of these sources must be from a book other than our text book. The bibliography must be a separate page and is not counted as one of your typed pages. * On the last page of this instructional sheet you will find requirements for the research paper.
2. Three to Five minute oral presentation using PowerPoint slides The oral presentation is an opportunity to teach your classmates what you have learned about your topic. Oral presentations can be in any format of your choosing. Examples of a presentation are a puppet show, a song, or even a skit. The choice is yours, be creative and informative. You must have 5-6 slides as part of the oral presentation. In computer class, you will have the opportunity to prepare five to six slides that can be used during your oral presentation.
3. Visual Aid The visual aid must be three dimensional and constructed as part of the project. Examples of visual aids include a pyramid, canopic jars, a three dimensional diorama, etc. You cannot bring in a pre-made pyramid purchased from the Internet.
